January 19, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

\"\"

A 20 minute work for flute, percussion, solo cello and amateur cello choir.

Program Notes by the Composer:

Recently, I came across a word I didn’t know— This word was “Lemuria” and, according to a brief search, I discovered it to be a mythical place on Earth. Located in the Pacific Ocean area, Lemuria an ancient civilization that existed prior to Atlantis. The Lemurians were believed to be highly evolved beings, kind to the planet and its other inhabitants, but had its continent destroyed by natural disasters at the peak of their existence. Destructions of entire civilizations and their replacement by new ones have been on my mind, guided by a simple, yet powerful existentialism question about our own human existence. For the past thirty years I have known how badly humans are affecting the environment, therefore challenging our continuation as a species because of money and greed. Though we face facts, data and numbers that prove the damage created by our modern society, grasping this reality proves more difficult each day.
