About this page

On this page, you will find many of the techniques used in our VOXPLORATION lessons and workshops, with a particular aim at simplifying complex musical concepts so that they become accessible to anyone interested in the pursuit of musical education. Taking creative approaches, rather than intimidating ones, composer and performer Clarice Assad takes us on a journey of musical self-discovery using our own voices and bodies as musical instruments.

During lessons, Assad explains the relationship between conventional rhythmic notation and a more creative approach using geometric shapes and the konnakol system of solfege, found in south Indian Carnatic music. Other compositional techniques show alternative methods of music notation, which allow facilitating improvisation within a singing group or symphonic orchestra.
