Young people write, record and perform their own songs about the things that actually matter to them.
Songwriter Idol puts songwriting in the hands of people who have never written anything. Participants pick their own subject: something happening in the world, something happening to them, something they want to change.
They write the words and the music. They record it. They perform it. The craft comes along the way, but the craft is not the point. The point is that they have something to say and now they have a way to say it.
