Mosaic Variations is a piece written by Grammy-nominee Clarice Assad and 50 students from the Austin Classical Guitar program. GENESIS OF THIS WORK:

Do What’s In Your Heart is a 32-minute documentary chronicling 2022 triple Grammy-nominee Clarice Assad’s Artist in Residence project at ACG, through which she co-created a musical work with more than 50 students from around the city. The short film includes a performance of that work by students, as well as a performance by guitarist Jorge Caballero with the Miro String Quartet, performing Assad’s reimagination of the same work for their ensemble.

Do What’s In Your Heart is a piece about community collaboration, musical inspiration, and artistic freedom — created by the Austin Classical Guitar community for the greater Austin community.

Special thanks to ACG’s Artistic Director Joe Williams, ACG’s Education Director Travis Marcum, Northshore Media’s Kevin Chin, Clarice Assad, all the musicians, parents, and students, along with everyone else who helped make this year-long project possible, including ACG’s Artist in Residence sponsor, atsec information security.
