A unique collaboration between dynamic musical changemakers, this concert brings together three beautiful creative thinkers in a new, experimental partnership.

Born in Moscow, raised in Russia and Israel, Grammy award-winning violinist and producer Johnny Gandelsman\’s musical voice reflects the artistic collaborations he has been a part of since moving to the United States in 1995. Richard Brody of The New Yorker called him “revelatory” in concert, placing him in the company of “radically transformative” performers like Maurizio Pollini, Peter Serkin and Christian Zacharias. As a founding member of Brooklyn Rider and a member of the Silkroad Ensemble, Johnny has worked with many of the world’s most renowned musical luminaries.

A powerful communicator renowned for her musical scope and versatility, Brazilian American Clarice Assad is a significant artistic voice in the classical, world music, pop and jazz genres. A Grammy-nominated composer, celebrated pianist, inventive vocalist, and educator, she is renowned for her evocative colors, rich textures, and diverse stylistic range. Hailed as “intensely soulful” by The New York Times and “spellbinding” by The New Yorker, Winner of OpusKlassik award in 2019, clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh has gained international recognition for his distinctive compositional voice across diverse musical genres. Originally from Damascus, Syria, Kinan Azmeh brings his music to all corners of the world as a soloist, composer and improviser.

Johnny, Clarice and Kinan will be joined by guest artists and ensembles in this remarkable musical happening at Screen Door 2021.
