Commissioned by the Tichy Music Festival, this is Clarice Assad\’s second concerto for two guitars. The first \”Album de Retratos\” was written for the Assad brothers and premiered by the PRO Musica Chamber Orchestra in 2013. This new piece explores the relationship between folk music from Poland (especially the Podhale region), and music of the Americas. It also pays homage to composer Fredéric Chopin and the early styles of choro, or, as it was known otherwise – the \”Brazilian Polka.\”
