Breaking Barriers & More

Dear Friends,

Perhaps one of the most relevant events of this year took time in the summer at the Ravinia Music Festival.  Many women in the music industry took center stage to discuss our roles as composers, conductors, and administrators to make sure that the gender gap and matters of gender equity in music continue to evolve to give space for more voices to be heard.  I don’t think of our “cause”   as a fight, but rather as a collaborative effort between underrepresented groups and those who are in a position of power to make a difference.  Being among such beautiful minds was truly enlightening, and I hope for many more conversations like these.  It’s not only about the talk, but about the actions that we can take.
