Quebra-Queixo (Jaw Breaker) is the name of a sweet, hard candy from Brazil and this sugary treat was the inspiration for this piece for its sugar high, roller coaster effect. The piece is energetic, based on a single melodic idea (motif) that repeats in various forms amidst peaks and crashes, which pulls the listener back and forth from from and to a frenetic stage.
